About Me

Hi, I’m Shyam.

I help busy corporate professionals lose weight without stupid hassles or restrictions. Using the Lazy Fitness System (more on that here).

I used to be a corporate rat. Working 50-55 hours a week.

I worked many weekends 😟 Because I was a recruitment consultant and most job-seekers preferred to speak with me outside office hours.

My clients had ruthless expectations. And my boss was a demanding chap. I was expected to be ‘available’ to speak on the phone 24/7.

Very stressful.

As a result, my health and fitness suffered. I was an overweight cookie.

Here’s a photo of me then:

I knew I was overweight. I weighed 75 kgs in this picture.

But my appearance & health were never a priority.

Until I started dating my ‘girlfriend’.

Suddenly, I was motivated to lose weight. I wanted to look and feel attractive.

But I faced a few challenges.

I stayed alone. And I didn’t know how to cook. Most of my meals were from restaurants.

Not a great situation for healthy eating 🤭

So I visited a dietitian. I thought she could help me solve this problem.

This dietitian was extremely popular on social media. Had an army of followers. And hundreds of videos of content.

As I entered her office, I was nervous. I didn’t know what to expect.

She asked me questions about my general health & taste preferences.

“Do you have any medical conditions?”
“Facing any problems with digestion?”
“Do you have a sweet tooth?”

And in ten minutes, she created a ‘personalized’ diet plan for me.

I was surprised.

She did not discuss my busy lifestyle.

No questions about my daily routine, whether I can cook, my social life, etc.

She never asked me if I can realistically follow the plan.

She handed me a sheet of paper. Which had a detailed diet plan – 7 meals per day including snacks, with specific items for each meal.

I read through the plan. And my heart fell.

Vegetable juice at 10.30am
Boiled chana at 6.30pm
Roasted or boiled chicken at 9.30pm

Too many hassles involved.

I told her this seemed too difficult. I stayed alone and I spent 10 hours in the office daily. Didn’t know how to cook either.

I thought she would change the plan for me.

Instead, she started ‘handling’ my concerns.

“Get a blender. It doesn’t take much time to prepare juice.”
“Just put it in a cooker, that’s all. And surely you can chop onions for 5 minutes?”

Her attitude seemed like – “This is so simple… Why can’t you do it?” 😒

I felt upset as I left her office. I felt she did not understand the practical difficulties I faced.

“Maybe you could ask your mom to stay with you and help for a few weeks?”, my girlfriend suggested later that evening.

“Yeah… I don’t see any other option”, I replied.

Soon, my mother had flown to Mumbai to help with this mission 😅

She cooked specific items according to my diet plan. She packed lunch in a tiffin that I took to office. She even shopped for groceries when I was at work.

It was tough to stick with the diet plan. But I managed it. Lost 4 kgs.

Not bad.

Sadly, she had to leave after staying with me for 4 weeks. Apparently, she had a life of her own too 😅🤷🏽‍♂️

After she left, I started gaining weight again. It was impossible to continue without her support in preparing meals.

I felt stuck.

I went to many other dietitians. The story was the same.

I asked them for easier diet plans because I couldn’t invest so much time and effort. And they continued to disappoint me with instructions to have quinoa burritos, moong daal chillas, and celery juice 🤦🏽‍♂️

It was frustrating. Not a single dietitian seemed to understand the difficulties of a busy corporate-job-ridden life.

Anyway...

I kept yo-yo dieting for a few months until I found myself at a friend’s house on a Sunday evening.

He had a weighing machine at his house. So I hopped on it.

And I was shocked.

I had actually GAINED 5 kgs 🥺 Which meant I was heavier than my starting weight 🤦🏽‍♂️

I was dejected.

I had to change SOMETHING. Because whatever I was doing was NOT working.

I had a choice.

I could continue to do the same thing – follow complicated diets, make big sacrifices, fail in 2-4 weeks, and repeat the whole cycle.

OR.

I could work smarter instead. Pick something easier to follow. Without hassles. A weight loss plan I could follow in any life situation.

I was sick of doing the same thing over and over. I was tired of following impractical rules from dietitians.

So I decided to find a ‘smarter’ plan that was hassle-free and practical.

This decision led me down a rabbit hole. I researched and compared different methods of weight loss. Soon, I became a certified nutritionist with international credentials.

The real breakthrough came when I stumbled across the ‘evidence-based’ community of fitness professionals.

This community included many research scientists who were also professional bodybuilders. They published research papers on nutrition, exercise, and fitness. And they also competed in major bodybuilding competitions.

(Yes, these guys are brain AND brawn!)

Under their guidance, I learnt a lot.

I became familiar with the cutting-edge science on fitness, nutrition, exercise. And I got my information straight from the source.

And with the right effort, with minimal stress - I was able to achieve the lean fit body I always wished for.

But I was still obsessesed with one question –
"How can I help busy people lose weight?"

The corporate professionals, the busy moms, the entrepreneurs.

The regular folks.

How can I help folks like ME achieve weight loss goals without hassles or stupid restrictions?

To tackle this – I combined my learnings to create a system suitable for regular folks with busy lifestyles.

I call it the Lazy Fitness System.
